While there are a great number of options and
methods offered here for garage floors, most of our customers select on of the two 'systems' mentioned below
#1 - one coat of the waterbased Water Bond (tm) floor epoxy paint (stocked in medium gray - other colors also available)
or one coat of our solvent free Industrial floor epoxy (light gray or beige (beige sometimes uses two coats)).
The waterbased one is functional easier to use, cheaper, and more goof proof but looks as if you just painted your
floor with enamel from the hardware store. Still, it gets the job done. The Industrial Floor Epoxy is thicker and
the result is almost like a glazed tile finish. It hides many of the flaws in the concrete.
#2 - this is the other end of the spectrum. One coat of the Industrial Floor epoxy paint (light gray or beige) is applied. After it has cured a coat of the clear epoxy is applied on top and colored paint chips are 'sprinkled' on top and then the roller goes back over the epoxy/chip mixture. Finally, a coat of our UV blocking Acrylic Poly UV plus coating is applied over the clear epoxy to keep it and the Industrial Floor Epoxy from yellowing and to longer keep that shinny look. Sometimes the middle coat is also the Acrylic Poly UV plus instead of the clear epoxy. This will give the floor more texture because the poly is much thinner (it also contains lots of solvents so it is a stinky coating - use in a well vented area).
10/6/07 - The Clear Epoxy middle coat keeps changing as we test and compare various different clear epoxies for
the job....
Sometimes the Bio Vee Seal (Bio Vee Seal can be found in our Floor Coatings Page - see link below) internal concrete
sealer is applied to the raw cement to mitigate possible moisture problems and sometimes a coat of the waterbased
floor epoxy - Water Bond is applied under the Industrial Floor Epoxy as a primer because being water based it will
slightly soak into the concrete, thus providing a good bonding surface for the other epoxy.

1 gal kits of the Water Bond will cover about 200 - 225 square
feet (med. gray is in stock, other colors by special order)
1.5 gal kits of the Industrial floor epoxy (light gray or beige (file folder color)) will cover just under 200 square feet
Chips are shipped from the factory in the SW. You need to call us with the color number and percentage of each selected color. Comes in 10 pound bags and cheaper 55 pound bags. Most folks use a 10 pound bag for 2 car garages, although if you want to broadcast enough chips to complete cover the background color epoxy (generally only done in commercial applications) then you will need 1 pound of chips to 7-10 square feet of floor.
The Acrylic Poly UV Plus 2 part poly topcoat will keep the clear epoxy (and the light gray Industrial Floor Epoxy (the beige already has enough yellow in it that you don't notice any yellowing)) from yellowing and will maintain its gloss longer. Comes in 1 gal kits. Cannot be sold in parts of California.
