The regular broadcast sytem is described is slightly greater detail at www.epoxyproducts.com/quartz4u.html.
There is a 'case study' of the Flex Deck system (on my own boat) Click here to see.
The Flex Deck anti-slip deck/surface system consists of the following:
1) coat the deck with a flexible epoxy "CM15" (see our flexible epoxy pagehttp://www.epoxyproducts.com/flex.html).
2) let the epoxy level out for a few minutes and the completely cover with ground walnut shell (or our white rubber
grit). (find in marine catalog) or (find in industrial
catalog). You will have to come back and add more walnut shell after a few minutes
as the grit settles and the epoxy begins to show through. Coverage is about 16 - 18 square feet per gallon of walnut
shell or per gallon of the rougher rubber grit. This process is exactly the same as used on a quartz broadcast
floor system - click here to learn
more. Walnut shell is used because it is sandable and not as abrasive as sand.
3) come back the next day and remove excess grit. You will get back about 1/3 to 1/2 of what you applied. Use a
broom or vacuum.
4) paint/seal the surface with any kind of paint, in any color you want. We suggest using exterior latex because
it is very color stable, easy to apply, easy to re-apply as needed, easy to get in any custom color, and very stable
in storage or use a poly paint, enamel, or even thinned epoxy (which will yellow so you might topcoat the epoxy
topcoat) but will really lock in the grit. Be careful not to apply so thickly your fill in all the texture.
