There have been major changes in the shipping of Epoxy Resins and Curing Agents since 2015.
New regulations from the IATA (International Air Transport Association) have re-classified ALL liquid epoxy resins (the Part A) when shipped by air as Environmentally Hazardous Substances, Liquid, N.O.S. with the following classification - UN 3082 PGIII. The Part B curing agents, most (not all) of which are also hazmat have their own IATA classifications. The IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) code also now considers epoxy resins (and some curing agents) as hazmat for sea transportation. Air and Ocean transport now requires shipper training and certification, special packaging, massive paperwork and much higher fees.
In the past, epoxy resins and some epoxy curing agents were classified as non-hamzat and could be shipped by air or ocean without special considerations.
Progressive Epoxy Polymers, Inc. Is not certified/trained to ship ANY epoxy coating or resin by air or sea freight. We can ship only by ground transportation in the Lower 48 U.S. states. We do not ship to Canada or Mexico due to custom issues and delays.
Please note that certain epoxies on our web site are stated as, "Can Be Shipped By Air". This text pre-dates these IATA changes. Progressive Epoxy Polymers can no longer ship these products by air and such references in our massive web site are being removed or updated.
You might consider asking your epoxy vendor about air shipping their epoxy products to see if they are aware of these new shipping restrictions. This will tell you a lot about the professionalism, technical knowledge, and even legal liability of the vendor. Also look for the Better Business Bureau (BBB) membership/logo - another sign of a trustworthy, community involved business. QUESTIONS?
