Non Skid decks (recommendations): Roll on a coat of Basic or Premium No Blush marine resin (section one) with the walnut shell additive. Then paint with exterior latex to the color you want. Use walnut shells because you can sand it off in the future and, walnuts (being wood) will not scratch surfaces, etc.

Rough Coat™: floor epoxy with grit
CANNOT BE SOLD IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
This is our special floor epoxy with grit already mixed-in for non slip. It is solvent based, flexible, and rolls on at about 160 - 180 square feet per gallon kit. In terms of color and texture it seems to match the appearance of 'fine sharp sand in flat enamel' on small custom made wooden boats I've seen at the WoodenBoat show in Maine. Texture is suitable for bare feet. Color is tan but you can paint it any color. Available in 1 gal kits and 8 oz test kits.
When grit is mixed into a paint or epoxy and brush
applied, one can see the brush mark pattern. The results look better when roller
applied. Two coats always helps provide more grit and a more uniform pattern.
Part of the problem is the mixing and dispersion of the grit in the liquid
product. Rough Coat overcomes almost all of these objections but making the part
A of this two part epoxy almost like whip cream and matching the density of the
grit to the density of the coating. Also by using some solvent in the coating,
it brushes on nicely and 'shrinks' down as it cures and the solvent flashes off,
leaving behind a nearly perfect and uniform non skid texture.

Walnut Shell Anti-Slip:
Better than sand. For use as a foot traffic anti-slip additive to paint, ground walnut shells have no equal. As a hardened wood it will absorb a bit of the epoxy, stay suspended in the epoxy (instead of sinking to the bottom like sand), and can be sanded away at some time in the future (unlike sand anti-slip which will destroy any sandpaper). Add 16 ounces (1 pint) per gallon of roller applied epoxy. Used in our flex-deck anti slip system (includes case study link!) - CLICK HERE

Ground Rubber Grit (oyster shell gray/white) - (medium to coarse size)
Rubber chip makes a great anti-slip surface that is easy on the feet (including bare feet). Unlike other grits, our white rubber will not show up as black dots on your floor/deck as the surface coating begins to wear. Can be used in our flex-deck anti slip system (includes case study link!) - CLICK HERE
See our anti-slip grit comparison chart (includes microscope grit pictures! See what you're getting)- CLICK HERE
1 quart - $9
This grit is coarse enough (unlike the walnut shell) to not get 'lost in the epoxy' if you mix it into the liquid epoxy. For thinner coatings and for 'broadcasting' the grit on top, the walnut works well too.
